Bridget Mkandawire is a seven-year-old girl who hails from Chimduzi Village in Rumphi district. Bridget is currently a Standard 2 learner at Chankharamu Primary School and dreams to become a nurse. This ambition has been a great push to Bridget who works very hard to realize wonderful dream.
Despite her efforts, Bridget also faced some challenges in school a thing that made her doubt if she would be the nurse she always dreamed of becoming. Lady luck smiled on her when the tablet learning sessions commenced at her school in January of 2024 under the Building Education Foundations through Innovation and Technology (BEFIT) programme. Bridget attests that tablet learning sessions have made things exciting and easier for her.
“The tablet learning sessions are very good. Within a short period of time, the turned me into a star performer in class,” said Bridget.
Bridget attributes the adaptive tablet learning using Onecourse software programme to her swift again of numeracy and literacy skills which she is also aware that they are key for her pursue a career in nursing.
Bridget’s class teacher also explained that Bridget’s confidence and academic performance have greatly improved.
“One day, her dream will come true as she is now having the best foundation she needs to excel,” explained Bridget’s teacher.
The BEFIT is a government of Malawi-led programme enhancing literacy and numeracy skills for learners in Standards 1-4 across all public primary schools through supplemental, individualized, self-paced instruction through an Android tablet-based app.
